Dotata di straordinario talento pianistico, Jany McPherson è un’artista estremamente originale nel fraseggio e nel linguaggio improvvisato. L’innato senso ritmico della sua natia Cuba, la toccante intensità interpretativa delle sue ballads e le travolgenti progressioni armoniche e melodiche della sua musica, fanno di lei una grande protagonista della scena internazionale. Autentica trascinatrice e stage perfomer, Jany McPherson è anche una compositrice. Nata a Guantanamo, è stata insignita giovanissima del premio “Adolfo Guzman”. Da qualche anno si è trasferita in Francia, a Nizza, dove attualmente risiede. Il primo disco intitolato “Tres almas” ha ricevuto nel 2013 la nomination per “Cubadisco Internacional” nella categoria “Miglior album di canzoni contemporanee”, nomination che si ripete nel 2014 per il suo secondo album “Blues Side Live” registrato dal vivo. Di grande rilievo la sua recentissima collaborazione col chitarrista John Mclaughlin che l’anno scorso l’ha voluta sul palco del Montreux Jazz Festival. L’ultimo disco registrato si intitola “Solo Piano!” e contiene undici brani compreso “Cinema Paradiso” (di Andrea ed Ennio Morricone), di cui Jany McPherson fa una sua personale e originalissima rilettura.

Jany McPherson is an extraordinarily talented Cuban pianist. She had a brilliant career studying music in Cuba, where she was awarded the Adolfo Guzman Prize. She has long collaborated with prestigious artists such as Omara Portuondo and the Buena Vista Social Club Orchestra. Noticed by the famous French producer Yves Chamberland, former producer of Nina Simone, she recorded her first album with him in 2011. McPherson, in addition to being a unique pianist for phrasing, harmonic and rhythmic progressions incomparable, is also a refined composer. Today she lives permanently in Nizza and, in her music, one can appreciate the skilful fusion of her true Cuban being with the elegance and sophistication of the land she has chosen as her residence: France. Her most recent collaboration with guitarist John Mclaughlin is of great importance, who last year wanted her on the stage of the Montreux Jazz Festival. The last album recorded is titled "Solo Piano!" and contains eleven songs including "Cinema Paradiso" (by Andrea and Ennio Morricone), of which Jany McPherson makes her own personal and highly original reinterpretation.
